approach and extreme specialisation
25. Les revues d'histoire: des ambitions généralistes
à l'hyper-spécialisation

Introduction:
At the Montreal Congress, a session
on history journals was so stimulating and productive that it
was decided to repeat it in Oslo. The suggestion was made that
discussion could focus initially on the uses, costs and benefits
to journals and their readers of electronic transmission. The
members of the panel represent both general and specialist journals;
these journals also vary in their utilisation of electronic transmission.
The expectation is that their presentations will stimulate the
audience to respond in kind. Discussion, however, will doubtless
extend beyond these topics.
